INGOS Backup at a glance

What INGOS Backup does

INGOS Backup backs up your servers, workstations, and NAS systems according to the agreed plan. The backups are transferred encrypted over the internet to an external data center. INGOS operates the service: setup, schedules, retention, and restores.

In my.ingos.com, you see in the Backup app at any time whether everything is backed up: status per device, history, restore points, storage usage, and a monthly report for audits.

Route of the data from the site through the firewall and internet uplink into the external data center

What is backed up

  • Komplett-Image (Full image): the whole device with system, programs, and data. A server or workstation can be fully restored from it.
  • Dateien & Ordner (Files & folders): selected directories, for example on a NAS.
  • Datenbanken (Databases): set up by INGOS.
  • Microsoft 365: mailboxes with email, calendar, and contacts, OneDrive, Teams, groups, and SharePoint, if Microsoft 365 is set up for your company.

INGOS sets with you which sources are backed up for you. On the device, this appears under Was gesichert wird (What is backed up).

You see, INGOS acts

The app shows you status, history, the files in each restore point, and the monthly report. You can change the Ausnahmen (Exclusions) yourself, meaning folders and files that should not be backed up. For this, you need the ändern (Change) assignment and sign-in with a security key.

You request everything else from INGOS with one click: a restore, a new schedule, longer retention, or a new device. The app opens a prefilled request for this. Requests go through the Support app, see Requests to INGOS.

Who can do what

The app appears only for people it is assigned to. The assignment sets what someone can do:

Assignment What is possible
ansehen (View) View everything, browse restore points, print the report
ändern (Change) Also maintain exclusions, with sign-in using a security key
Support (Support) Send requests to INGOS, with the Support app

In INGOS Backup, changes are possible only after sign-in with a security key. A sign-in link is not enough for this.

Note

INGOS grants access and permissions. If a colleague needs access, send a request to INGOS.
