INGOS Backup cannot back up customers data using a FRITZ!Box when the NetBIOS filter is active. This issue specifically prevents accessing file and printer shares through the FRITZ!Box.
Fritzbox Users cannot reach INGOS Backup
The FRITZ!Box and some internet providers (e.g., Vodafone in cable and mobile networks) block access to ports used for file and printer sharing for security reasons. Specifically, the TCP and UDP ports 139 and 445, used by the NetBIOS filter, are blocked.
To enable INGOS Backup for customers with a FRITZ!Box, you either need to disable the NetBIOS filter or use alternative secure transmission protocols such as HTTPS or SFTP. Additionally, a VPN connection may be used to securely access remote networks.
Steps to Disable the NetBIOS Filter
- Open the FRITZ!Box user interface and click on "Internet."
- Select "Filter" from the "Internet" menu.
- Click on the "Lists" tab.
- Click on "Global filter settings" to view all filter settings.
- Uncheck the option "NetBIOS filter active."
- Save the settings by clicking "Apply."

Disabling the NetBIOS filter may expose devices in your (home) network to increased attacks from the internet. It is recommended to set up firewalls on all devices in the home network.
