Set exclusions

With exclusions, you decide which folders and files are not backed up, for example Trash, temporary files, or preview images. This saves space and avoids warnings for folders that cannot be read.

Exclusions are the one setting you change yourself. You need the ändern (change) assignment and sign-in with a security key. Without the ändern assignment, ask INGOS through Support with Neue Anfrage (New request) to change them.

1. Open the device and, under Was gesichert wird (What is backed up), click Ausnahmen (Exclusions) on the source.
2. Choose the Art (Type): - Ordnername (überall) (Folder name (everywhere)): every folder with this name, anywhere - Exakter Pfad (Exact path): exactly one folder or one file - Muster (Pattern): for example all files with a specific extension
3. Enter the value, click a suggestion, or choose the folder with Ordner durchsuchen (Browse folders). Browsing needs a connected device.
4. Click Hinzufügen (Add) and then Weiter (Next).
5. Check the preview. It shows what is neu ausgenommen (newly excluded) and what is nicht mehr ausgenommen (no longer excluded). Only Übernehmen (Apply) saves.

The app confirms with Gespeichert. (Saved.) The exclusion applies from the next backup. Existing restore points stay unchanged. With Rückgängig (Undo), you revert the change right away.

If a backup reports folders that could not be read, open the details with Grund ansehen (View reason). There, add an exclusion for the folder directly with Als Ausnahme hinzufügen (Add as exclusion).

If the folder should be backed up, the backup needs read permission on it. Send a request to INGOS for that.

• Exclusions that a plan sets appear as Vom Plan vorgegeben (Set by the plan). INGOS changes them; ask INGOS with Ausnahme anfragen (Request exclusion).
• If someone else has changed the exclusions in the meantime, the app loads the current list. Then check the change again.
• A folder name contains no slash. For a path, choose Exakter Pfad.
